Chef Krishna Thapa is the head chef at Wakame Asian Kitchen & Grill. He was born in Nepal and has over 20 years of work experience.

Get to know Chef Krishna Thapa:
I come from a beautiful town in Nepal; I'm married and I have 2 amazing boys.
I've been a chef for most of my life with over 20 years' experience working in different countries.
Working in various places gave me a lot of experienced and helped to shape the type of chef I have become.
Food is what I know the best and the kitchen is where I am the happiest.
When I'm not cooking, you can catch me in the gym, playing cricket or watching football.

One day I hope to own my own restaurant that specialized in Asian food that gives customers authentic and unique flavors leaving them with a different culinary experience from what they're used to.

List a few of your favorite foods or cooking styles.
With food I have a few - Sushi, Yaki Mesi, Kung Pao Seafood, Chicken Gyoza, Nepali Momo and Dosa. For cooking styles, I enjoy the Chinese hot range, Tapenyaki, Japanese sushi and open fire grill

When you're not working, do you cook? If yes, what would be your signature dish if you had to cook for friends at home?
I cook all the time and my signature dish if I were hosting friends would be Mi Goreng and Yakitori

If you could choose an animal to represent you, which would it be and why?
I would be an Eagle. They have vision, they are fearless, tenacious, highflyers and they never eat dead meat which is what differentiates them from other birds.
They also nurture their younger ones and possess vitality.

What's your preferred beverage (alcoholic/non-alcoholic)?
My preferred alcoholic beverage would be a gin and tonic with dash of pepper and cucumber.
For non-alcoholic, I love green tea.

What kind of music to do like? Name three songs/artists you currently listen to.
I love music from 90s. I'm currently listening to A. R. Rahman

Do you like travelling? Where is the best place you have ever been to and where would you still like to visit?
I love travelling. Best place I've been to so far is Pokhara in Nepal.
I still want to go to Paris.

If you are going to be stuck on a desert island for a year what 3 things would you take with you?
I would take an umbrella, sunscreen and a sunbed.
